2008 Sailing Classes
**Please note: As we near the end of sailing season all of our group classes
have been conducted for 2008.  However, we still offer private lessons for all
levels of sailing.  If you are interested in these please call our shop (785-841-

Winter ASA Coastal Navigation Class
Twenty-one hours of classroom time and ASA materials
Sundays (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), March 2, 9, 16, 2008

In this popular 3-session (21-hour) class you will learn to use traditional navigation tools
and publications.  You will learn to determine your location on nautical charts using
bearings and fixes.  You will learn how to plan coastal voyages.  And you will learn to use
electronic navigation equipment.  The cost is $250 which includes ASA textbook, DVD, 21
hours of class time, certification, lunch and snacks, beverages, and more.

One-Day Sailing Class for Beginners (Adult)
April 20 (sold out); May 11, 2008 (sold out)

The purpose of this class is to introduce beginning and inexperienced sailors to the
basics of sailing.  This course is an ideal prerequisite to ASA Basic Keelboat Classes for
those who have never sailed.  The cost is only $150 for a 6-hour day of sail instruction.


Weekend ASA Basic Keelboat Classes
May 3-4 (sold out); June 14-15 (sold out) ; July 12-13 (sold out); August 16-17, 2008 (sold
out)


This class is for people with some sailing experience.  Students will expand their basic
sailing skills and knowledge.  Upon successful completion of this class (including
completion of a written and practical examination) students will be ASA-certified to
charter keelboats in the 20-foot range.  These classes cost only $250 for PYC
nonmembers.


ASA Coastal Cruising Classes
Monthly in San Diego, California

In these popular live aboard classes you will learn to sail on coastal waters and get
certified for chartering sailboats worldwide.  The $2,000 per person fee includes all
materials, exams, certification, and living expenses.  It’s a great way to combine sail
education with a terrific vacation.  Dates are “by arrangement” every month of the year.


Introduction to Spinnaker Sailing

It’s every sailors dream: to sail into the sunset under the beauty and splendor of a
spinnaker.  In this one-day class students learn the basics of spinnaker terminology and
handling.  Contact us for dates and times of these classes.


Private Sailing Lessons
By arrangement

For those who prefer more intensity and flexibility, we offer private sailing lessons for
$75 per hour on weekdays or $100 on weekends.  Private lessons are a popular gift.  And
for the hourly fee up to four people can hop aboard!
